Jahzar Greene Commits To Manhattan

At the end of February, it was announced that Bishop Ludden senior Jahzar Greene had committed to play in the MAAC at Manhattan University.

Greene was a standout at multiple NERR events in 2025, including both of the Western New York Elite 75 College Showcases in Rochester, New York, and the Central College Showcase in Worcester, Massachusetts.

It was evident immediately upon our first viewing that Greene had scholarship-level skill and had ultimately slipped through the cracks, but that changed quickly. Following standout performances at the Elite 75, he received two Division II offers to schools that had just appeared in the NCAA Tournament.

Willing to bet on himself, Greene entered his senior season uncommitted, keeping his options open for potential collegiate or postgrad schools as the season went on.

Over the winter, Greene averaged around 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game as Bishop Ludden finished with an 18-6 record, falling to the eventual Class AAA champions at CBA Albany.

In Greene, Manhattan gets a gritty guard who plays above his size with pop to rise above defenders for dunks, and to create for himself downhill. Over his junior and senior seasons, he showed tremendous growth, making him an intriguing prospect who has a ton of potential to continue to channel.

In talks with NERR, Jahzar had great things to say about his future destination in New York City: “Manhattan just felt like home on the visit,” he stated. “The campus was beautiful, the coaches are great, and I love the way the team plays,” he continued.

On his official visit, he got a good glimpse of the team in action: “Watching their game against Marist in person last month, I could envision myself as a part of their system and being an asset to the team.”

Greene took a moment to thank all of those who helped him along his journey as a college prospect: “I would like to thank my coaches at Bishop Ludden, Coach Driscoll, Coach Rauch, and Coach Kilmartin. They have always been by my side and always believed in me and that I would find the right situation at the next level.”

Some things that Greene really focused on in the gym leading up to his commitment included “getting to my spots, and becoming more of a threat without the ball in my hands. Getting stronger and impacting the glass as a rebounder were other things I worked on as well.”

To finish things off, he said NERR’s platform helped get his name out there: “The New England Recruiting Report is a great platform. I definitely felt that I gained more college attention through being featured in their reports, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for more exposure to their game.”

While Greene remains in the state of New York, he will now travel to the “Big Apple” as he takes his game to the Division I level next season.
