Hoop Mountain SWI - Day 2 AM Recap

Day two of Super Week 1 kicked off early Friday morning with a series of exciting games, surrounded by drill sessions on the outer courts. Rising 8th grader Tomas Murphy displayed some of the reasons why he will be an exciting player to follow over the next several years. Another young prospect, Jordan Scurry (2015), performed admirably in a one point victory in the first game of the day. Here are others who impressed from today’s morning session:

Jean-Louis Wanya, 2015 (Vanier College Prep) – Obviously still very young, Wanya is a very raw talent who has the makings of a potential star. He understands his role as a low post player, but at the same time has shown flashes of brilliance on the wing: driving and finishing dunks high above the rim.

Quentin Bullen, 2014 (St. John’s Prep) – Only one word defines Bullen: shooter. He moved well without the ball and coming off screens, and reaped the benefits of doing so by knocking down open threes all day.

Sam Linabury, 2013 (Hall High School) – Sam is a deadly weapon from the outside with his ability to get open and knock down shots with consistency. Though he isn’t an elite athlete, he has nice footwork and is a crafty player.

Jonathan Nartiff, 2013 (St. Thomas Aquinas) – Nartiff has the ability to score the ball as well as anyone at camp. His decision-making still could improve, but he is still a very handy combo guard.

Ryan Green, 2013 (Blue Hills Regional Tech) -  Green is a strong combo guard who is at his best with the ball in his hands in the open floor.  He’s a dual threat because of his strength in creating for teammates or scoring around the rim.

Blaine Taylor, 2014 (Concord-Carlisle) – Taylor is a 6’4 power forward, although he lacks some lateral quickness, he has been one of the toughest rebounders in his camp. His best quality is his nose for the ball, he seems to never quit on a play.

Carlfred Malcolm, 2014 (Weston) – He’s added some much needed upper body strength and now is a very adequate finisher. Malcolm is a floor-general guard who does a great job of creating for teammates in the open floor.
