Hoehning in on Sacred Heart
St. Thomas More point guard Sean Hoehn made a verbal commitment to Sacred Heart over the weekend following an official visit that began earlier in the week.
Hoehn was in many ways symbolic of the entire Chancellors' team this year as he exceeded expectations and proved a lot of the naysayers wrong. Similarly, St. Thomas More advanced to their latest NEPSAC final as well as the semi-finals of the National Prep Championship after an epic three-overtime win over Elev-8 Sports Institute from Florida with a team that had multiple players without D1 offers in their regular rotation.
Hoehn emerged as not just the floor general but also the emotional leader of this STM team. His toughness and intensity were immediately apparent every time the Chancellors took the floor, but that's only part of why he proved himself to be a division I player.
The other half is that he dramatically improved over the course of his post-graduate season, reportedly after frequenting the STM gym many mornings at 6am.
Ultimately, his intangibles in combination with top-notch conditioning and an improved skill set, caused his recruitment to continue to grow throughout the season and Sacred Heart came away as the winner.
Now, Hoehn joins a Pioneers squad that features one of the best young backcourts in the NEC including another STM product, Cane Broome, who is coming off a big freshman season, as well as Quincey McKnight, a Connecticut native who is returning close to home after attending the Phelps School in Pennsylvania and standing out with the PSA Cardinals.
Hoehn, who ran with High Rise Team Up this summer, apparently isn't the only player in his family known for his toughness and intangibles as Villanova point guard and Big East Co-Player of the Year, Ryan Arcidiacono, took to twitter to congratulate his cousin on his commitment:
Congrats to my cousin @SeanHoehn22 for committing to Sacred Heart! Very proud!! #d1boy #heputinthework #itrunsinthefamily #curranfam
