Hartford Gets a Steal in Flowers
Thayer Academy and Team New England senior Moses Flowers made a verbal commitment to Hartford on Saturday.
The pledge is a significant one for Hartford as Flowers saw his recruitment soar all the way to the Atlantic 10 Conference following a breakout spring with Team New England.
A high level athlete with an equally high motor, Flowers came into the spring best known for his physical tools, intangibles, and prowess on the defensive end of the floor. But when he connected on over 50% of his attempts from behind the three-point line during the April recruiting period, his rapidly developing skill set helped push his recruitment all the way to the Atlantic 10 level.
Hartford, led by head coach John Gallagher and assistant coach John Linehan, continued to pursue him throughout the summer and was front and center for every game in Las Vegas when Team New England captured a divisional championship at the Las Vegas Fab 48.
A steal like this on the recruiting trail is the latest boost of momentum for a Hartford program that is coming off a record setting 19 win season last year and returns four starters in the coming 2018-19 season. With those four starters set to graduate following the coming season, Flowers will have an opportunity to play a significant role from day one in the America East.
