Hartford Adds a Pair

University of Hartford head coach John Gallagher recently added two more prospects to his 2011 recruiting class with the additions of Nate Sikma and Corban Wroe.

Sikma, the son of NBA legend Jack Sikma, will be coming to Hartford from Bellevue High School just outside of Seattle.  A six-foot-six skilled face-up four-man, Sikma averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds per game this year while leading his team to the state finals and being named 1st Team All-State in Washington.  Known for a smooth skill set that extends to the three-point line and a rugged court demeanor, Sikma projects as an ideal fit in the Hawk’s system.

Wroe is a versatile six-foot-two guard who heads to Connecticut by way of Australia where he starred at the Australian Institute of Sport.  Capable of playing all three perimeter positions and known as a lock down defender, Wroe has a long resume of success at the international level.  He represented his country at the 2010 Schweitzer International Games in Germany where he had 12 points in a 79-66 win over a U.S.A. team that featured Ryan Boatright (UConn), Damian Leonard (USC), and Marshall Plumlee (Duke) and was also selected for the All-Asia team at the 2010 Nike Global Challenge.  This summer he will play for the Australian u19 national team as they prepare for the world championships in Latvia from June 30th to July 10th.
