Hamden Hall Duo Still Available
The class of 2012 is coming down to the wire with the schools still looking to fill scholarship left with few of their original top choices.
Two of the top players still on the market have been side by side from day one, starring together on both the high school and AAU circuits with Hamden Hall Country Day School and East Coast Elite.
Darren Payen is already a well known commodity. Arguably the most talented frontcourt prospect left on the board, Payen took a trip to Rhode Island on Thursday to visit with new Rams head coach Danny Hurley and has already used up four of his five official visits after seeing Vermont, Northeastern, Hofstra, and St. Bonaventure.
Two possible scenarios exist moving forward for Payen. The first is that he chose from his current suitors with a potential decision possibly coming within the very immediate future. The second option is that he uses his fifth and final official visit to see Rice, a high academic program from Conference USA who has recently jumped into his recruitment.
While Payen is the more celebrated recruit, it was Victor Joshua who was Hamden Hall’s leading scorer and primary playmaker this year. A big guard who is capable of playing on or off the ball, he has a knack for putting points on the board and should be able to do that right away upon reaching the college level.
He drew some division I interest this year from the likes of Vermont, Holy Cross, Quinnipiac, St. Francis PA, and others. Most recently, he visited Assumption and has attracted further attention from CW Post in Long Island. Nevertheless, he remains open in his recruitment and certainly one of the best late values left on the board in New England’s class of 2012.
Stay tuned to the New England Recruiting Report in the coming days and weeks to see where these, and other top remaining players in the class of 2012, end up.
