Grossman Makes Pick

Brian Grossman has made his college decision and is headed to Wheaton College to continue his basketball career.

“I chose Wheaton because it is the best fit for me academically and I think I have a chance to contribute right away to the team,” he said.  “The relationship I have with Coach Walmsley and Coach Gibbs also helped me a lot with my decision.”

Grossman is a name that most fans of New England basketball are familiar with.  He began his career at the St. Mark’s school where he played a prominent role right away on one of Class C’s most storied teams, winning two New England championships along the way.

Prior to the beginning of his junior season Grossman transferred to his hometown Duxbury High School and has led them to similar success.  This season he is averaging 20 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals per game while leading the team to a 10-3 record.

“We are hoping to finish off strong in the regular season and make a run during the state tournament,” Grossman told the New England Recruiting Report.

Grossman also holds the distinction of having started every game of his high school career, dating back to his days at St. Mark’s.

He has been no less impressive on the AAU circuit.  Running with Metro Boston for the last three years, Grossman has played with and against some of the top players in New England and beyond, being a staple of a program that established themselves among the upper echelon of teams in the country at this year’s AAU nationals.

“I want to thank Coach Mo Vasquez from Metro Boston, Coach Cushing from Duxbury, and Coach Lubick and Coach Meloski from St. Mark’s,” Grossman said, “for coaching and working with me throughout the past few years.”

Grossman is a versatile and tough player with a high basketball I.Q. and terrific feel for the game.  He is capable of playing either backcourt position, has developed into a consistent shooter from the perimeter, is a good passer, tough defender, and simply put knows how to win games.

He projects as someone who should be able to play significant minutes right away at Wheaton.
