Glynn Signs with UMass Lowell
Portsmouth High School (NH) alum and Tilton School post-graduate Joey Glynn quietly accepted a full athletic scholarship and signed his National Letter of Intent earlier this week with UMass Lowell.
"We're excited to add Joey to our incoming freshman class," UMass Lowell head coach Pat Duquette said. "He is a smart, skilled, and tough forward, who loves to compete. He is a high-character, hard-working kid, who comes from an extremely succesful high school program."
In fact, Glynn's high school career couldn't have been much more storied as he led Portsmouth to back-to-back undefeated seasons and NHII state championships. He averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists per game as a senior, while shooting 56% from the field, and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Hampshire in the process. He was also selected first team All-State as both a junior and senior.
Despite his incredible high school career, Glynn was still relatively low under the recruiting radar because he rarely played during the grassroots season. Since arriving at Tilton earlier this fall though, he's more than proven he's capable of having similar success against higher levels of competition as he has played to rave reviews throughout the open gym season.
Glynn becomes the fourth player, and third New England product, to commit to Duquette in the class of 2018 as he joins Lowell High School star Alex Rivera and Salisbury guard Bryce Daley in what could be the River Hawks best recruiting class to date.
