Frost Picks The Fighting Irish
Yesterday, Ryder Frost, a standout wing from the Middlesex Magic program and Phillips Exeter Academy, announced his commitment to Notre Dame.
A native of Beverly, Massachusetts, Frost spent his first three years of high school in Beverly, before transferring into the NEPSAC.
Frost’s career at Beverly was impressive, posting numerous notable stat lines and earning significant recognition, including NEC Player of the Year honors in his final season.
Following his move to Phillips Exeter, things changed immensely for the Beverly native.
Roughly sixteen months ago, Frost dominated against Milton Academy at the NEPSAC Showcase, earning his first Division I offer from Le Moyne.
As a scout in attendance, everyone was talking about the 6’6 wing and the potential he had to be special.
One college scout said “He’s an Atlantic 10 kid,” while another believed “He's going to be great in the Patriot League,” while his name was ringing around the gym. At this point in time, Frost's Division One recruitment had just really began, and the high major status he earned was still on it's way.
Every college coach that asked me that day who I came away impressed with, Ryder Frost was the first name out of my mouth, and yes there's proof.
From there on out, he had one of the most memorable ascensions I’ve ever seen.
By the end of summer 2023, Frost had secured offers from Le Moyne, Fairfield, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, and Brown.
The growth from the summer to the start of the prep school season then led him to high major status.
His dedication to improving his physique was evident as he entered the season stronger than ever, with his shot evolving into one of the smoothest on the court.
In his first season at Phillips Exeter, he was a major factor in their Class A championship over Phillips Andover at Clark University.
Following the season he was named the NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year.
As the grassroots season began, Frost attracted high-major interest nationwide. Penn State was the first to extend an offer, with Notre Dame and Syracuse closely monitoring his progress.
In the UAA, Frost delivered one of the most impressive seasons on the circuit, shooting 45% from three-point range.
Following the first two sessions of the Under Armour circuit, Frost was given scholarship offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Nebraska, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, Minnesota, Syracuse, Iowa, UIC and West Virginia.
At that point, Frost entered national rankings, and his stock has continued to rise ever since.
In choosing Notre Dame, Frost becomes the third nationally-ranked prospect to choose the Fighting Irish this week joining Jalen Haralson and Brady Koehler.
Through it all, Ryder has remained humble and kept his head down, continuing to work on his game.
He made a point in his live commitment to thank his father, Brady Frost, for helping him become the lethal shooting threat he is today.
With one season remaining in New England before heading to Notre Dame, fans should make an effort to watch Frost in action at Phillips Exeter while they still can.
