Frosh/Soph Flashback 2010

It may have been only a year ago, but already lots has changed since the last Elite 75 Showcase – Frosh/Soph Edition.

At the time, Noah Vonleh might have been an already proven prospect on the local circuit but still an unknown at the national level.  He dominated the Frosh/Soph showing an improved skill set that let him handle the ball and create off the dribble with his powerful frame.  Less than two months later he would make his national rankings debut on the ESPNU Terrific 25 before going on to be invited to the Nike Hoops Jamboree and wrapping up his summer as a consensus top six prospect in the class of 2014 with Rivals.com rating him as high as second overall in the nation.

Rene Castro and Johnnie Vassar had already established themselves as two of the premier young point guards in New England by this time last year, but they only further solidified those reputations at the Frosh/Soph.  Castro was making plays at will while Vassar was showing some newfound explosiveness to allow him to play above the rim.

Jared Terrell was among the big winners of this spring and summer and signs were already pointing in that direction at last fall’s Frosh/Soph as he was one of the day’s best performers.

The class of 2014 got their first glimpse of the grassroots circuit with guys like Jeremy Miller, Aaron Falzon, Levy Gillespie Jr., Jared Wilson-Frame, Jonathan Joseph, and Bonzie Colson leading the charge.

Meanwhile the sophomore class of 2013 showed its depth with the likes of Vonleh, Castro, Terrell, Andrew Chrabascz, Ikemefuna Ngwudo, Matt Cimino, Kaleb Joseph, Adrian Oliveira, John Powell, Bernard Brantley, Jake Fay, and others solidifying their stock while newcomers like Dekeeba Battee, Ausar Madison, Travis Berry, Dennis Green, and Thomas Rivard proved their potential.

Who will break out this year?  That question will be answered in just one week as the 2011 New England Elite 75 Showcase will take place on Saturday, September 17th.

The 2011 New England Elite 75 Showcase - Frosh/Soph Edition will be held on Saturday, September 17th at Mansfield Sports Plex.  Limited spots remain available for the event and nominations are still being accepted by emailing us at adam@newenglandbasketballservices.com.
