Frosh/Soph Flashbacks

As the start of the school year and basketball season begin to veer around the corner, let’s rewind to the past and take a look at some former New Englanders who have gone on to play at the collegiate and professional level.

Bruce Brown: Ranked #1 in the Vermont Class of 2016, Brown certainly has lived up to the expectations he set early in his career. The 6-foot-4 guard spent two seasons with the Miami Hurricanes, where he made a name for himself on the defensive end. He was selected 42nd overall to the Detroit Pistons, and found spot minutes throughout the beginning years of his career with the Pistons and Brooklyn Nets. Prior to the 2022-23 NBA season, Brown signed with the Denver Nuggets and played an essential role in their NBA championship.

Terance Mann: The versatile wing from the Tilton School, and Brown's longtime running mate with BABC, has paved quite the professional career for himself. After playing four seasons at Florida State, Mann was drafted with the 48th overall pick in the 2019 draft to the Los Angeles Clippers. In his rookie season, he struggled to find consistent minutes, but in his sophomore season he was a large contributor in the Clippers playoff run. This included a career-high 39-point avalanche in game 6 of the western conference semi-finals, which sent the Utah Jazz home.

Donovan Clingan: The 7-foot-2 big from Connecticut chose to stay local for college, spending two seasons with the UConn Huskies and playing a substantial role in their consecutive NCAA tournament victories. This success propelled Clingan to being selected 7th in the 2024 NBA Draft to the Portland Trail Blazers. In his rookie season Clingan averaged 1.6 blocks per game, and was awarded All-Rookie 2nd team honors, the future is definitely bright in Portland

Alex Karaban: A former teammate of Clingan’s, the Southborough native similarly chose UConn and just capped off an All-Big East junior season. For the majority of his collegiate career, Karaban has been a prolific three point shooter with size at 6-foot-8, offering an unprecedented level of offensive versatility in collegiate basketball. The sharpshooter will likely be drafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, and any team would be lucky to have his skillset.

Colby Duggan: Ranked 10th in the Massachusetts Class of 2023, the 6-foot-7 wing from Monson has grown tremendously since entering the collegiate level. Duggan had limited minutes in his freshman year at Campbell, but blossomed with expanded opportunities in his sophomore year, averaging 15.7 points per game on efficient shooting. The much-improved wing made headlines when he entered the portal this spring, and decided to transfer to Charleston for this upcoming season, where he will have plenty of opportunities to continue his ascension.

Jalen Adams: The Brewster Academy guard spent four years with the UConn Huskies following his high school graduation, earning All-AAC selections in three of those seasons. Adams entered the 2019 NBA Draft, going undrafted, but participated in the NBA Summer League with the New Orleans Pelicans. Since then, the 6-foot-3 guard has carved out a solid career for himself overseas. Playing in China and Turkey amongst other countries.
