Falzon Makes His Choice
Eight days after wrapping up the last of his official visits, Aaron Falzon was ready to make his decision on Monday morning and he committed to Northwestern as was first reported by ESPN.com.
The decision ended what had been a long, and sometimes tumultuous, process that ultimately ended with two choices – Harvard and Northwestern – which he visited in consecutive weeks.
“This was the toughest decision I’ve ever seen an NMH basketball player have to make because both programs literally couldn’t have done a better job recruiting him,” said Northfield Mount Hermon head coach John Carroll. “Both of these coaches perfectly represent the ideals and ambitions of their universities.”
While Northwestern has never been to an NCAA tournament, the Big Ten program is clearly on an upswing under second year head coach, and former Duke associate head coach, Chris Collins.
“I think Coach Collins was the big reason [for choosing Northwestern,” Falzon said. “He showed me where I could fit in the offense and all of the new stuff they’ve brought to the program.”
“It was definitely a tough choice but I think Northwestern gives me an opportunity to play big time basketball like I’ve always wanted, play against great players every night, and still go to a top ten academic school in the country,” he told ESPN.com.
Falzon, who starred with Expressions Elite, on the EYBL circuit is one of the very best shooting forwards in the entire country.
Following his commitment, ESPN broke down exactly how he would fit into Northwestern’s system while BallasTV published video highlights from his junior season at NMH:
