Fairfield Lands Another New England Prospect

Last week, it was announced that St. Thomas More postgraduate forward Brandon Benjamin had announced his commitment to the Fairfield Stags of the MAAC Conference.
Benjamin finished off an impressive final season before college, helping the Chancellors make the National Prep Championship game for the first time in years.
The postgraduate forward served as a vital piece throughout the season for Head Coach Jere Quinn, and came up big down the stretch in the championship game despite the loss. In the contest, he finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks – What the box score won’t show is just how important his defensive presence and switchability was in the game, as he was available to guard whomever was needed to.
Throughout the season, the 6’8” forward was a massive piece alongside Alabama-commit London Jemison at the four spot. For the season, the two crucial pieces to the frontcourt finished on the All-NEPSAC AAA team. Benjamin posted a double double during the regular season, posting 15.7 points and 15.0 rebounds per game.
Prior to St. Thomas More, the versatile forward spent a year at Link Academy in Missouri playing in the Nike EYBL Scholastic League, arriving in Missouri from Bergen Catholic in New Jersey.
In Benjamin, the Stags have added their fifth incoming freshman to the squad, and third from the NEPSAC alongside the likes of Northfield Mount Hermon’s Nasir Rodriguez and Putnam Science point guard Tony Williams.
The consensus opinion by most college coaches and scouts in attendance this past March at the National Prep Championship was how well Benjamin’s game can seamlessly translate to the collegiate level.
With the aforementioned crew of incoming freshmen moving onto campus in the near future it will be interesting to see how things develop for the New Jersey native who finished third in the Connecticut 2025 rankings.
