Evans D1 Bound
Lee Academy post-grad and Holy Cross alum Akili Evans committed to Sacramento State and signed a National Letter of Intent.
A late-blooming big guard, Evans has sprouted up more than 6 inches in recent years. He reportedly averaged over 30 points per game last year at Holy Cross while earning both All-State and All-Conference honors in the CIAC and NVL repsectively.
He joined the New Haven Heat following his senior season where he first started to attract D1 attention despite the pandemic.
Evans continued to put up big numbers during his post-graduate year at Lee, reportedly averaging 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game for head coach Dan Haynes.
"We are excited to announce the signing of Akili Evans," Sacramento State head coach Brian Katz said. "He is a very dynamic 6-foot-5 guard. He has a very good feel for the game, while at the same time has good creative instincts. He can create offense for himself and others within the flow of the game, and is a fearless competitor."
