ESPN Announces Updated 2017 Rankings

ESPN announced a new ESPN 100 on Wednesday morning and, as usual, plenty of New England names made the cut.

Putnam Science Academy guard Hamidou Diallo checks in as the 11th ranked player in the country. One of the nation's most explosive athletes, Diallo had a big summer, which included a quarterfinal apperance in the EYBL Finals, a gold medal with USA Basketball's 18-and-under team and an MVP performance at the Elite 24.

New England's top two point guards, Tremont Waters and Makai Ashton-Langford, check in at 32nd and 33rd on the list. Waters, who will join Notre Dame High School of West Haven this year, is one of the most skilled and offensively gifted lead guards in the class, on par with the likes of Trae Young. Ashton-Langford, who heads to Brewster Academy this fall, distinguishes himself by being able to change the game on both ends and has an unmatched resume of winning games.

Jermaine Samuels returned to the top 50 after a strong summer of his own, checking in at 46th overall in the country. The Rivers' product made one of the more impressive transformations this spring, establishing himself as an elite competitor with true leadership skills, not to mention his well known scoring prowess.

Kimani Lawrence isn't far behind at 54th overall in the country. The New Hampton wing shot the three at an unprecedented clip this spring and summer, and that only opened up his slashing game that much more, while he remains a constant threat to rise up for big finishes in transition.

Christian David missed the entire grassroots season with his torn ACL but remains in the ESPN 100, currently holding on to the 83rd spot, as a skilled wing with legitimite guard skills in a 6-foot-7 frame.

The point guard who gave a shout-out to all the unranked players on national television, Wabissa Bede, is going to need to find a new battle cry as he is now ranked among the top 100 prospects in the country, checking in at 86th overall after what was nothing short of a magnificient week in Las Vegas.

Finally, incoming Vermont Academy forward Jordan Nwora also makes his debut in the top 100, checking in at #90, to give the Wildcats a pair of players in the ESPN 100.
