Elite 75 Showcase – Event Recap

West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins, Providence head coach Ed Cooley, and Penn State head coach Pat Chambers headlined the 60+ division I college coaches at Holyoke Community College on Sunday for the sixth annual New England Elite 75 Showcase.

In the end, the event lived up to its reputation, assembling many of the top players in New England and providing a forum for previously unheralded players to prove themselves.

The day began with athleticism and explosion testing provided by Athletic Standard, not only measuring each player’s vertical leap and lateral quickness but combining those numbers with other information to quantify total athleticism in one number.

Competitive break-down drills were up next providing players with opportunities to showcase their skills first in one on one situations and then moving to two on two with ball-screen and dribble hand-off action.  Finally, three-man action was used as players came off down-screens and into drive and kick action.

The day’s activities attended with 5 on 5 contests.

Zach Auguste led the available 2012 products in attendance while Timajh Parker-Rivera, John Papale, Jesse Chuku, Stefon Williams and others also showed well.

Harvard and William & Mary both left relieved they did their work early thanks to the high level play of Evan Cummins and Terry Tarpey

The underclassmen were led by Noah Vonleh, Abdul-Malik Abu, Jarred Reuter, Samuel Dingba, Jared Terrell, and others.
