Drummond Headlines Connecticut Rankings

It should come as no surprise that Andre Drummond sits atop the Connecticut 2012 rankings.  After all, when you’re the number one player in the country, it’s a pretty safe bet to assume you’re the top ranked player in your state. 

Number two was no less difficult to select as South Kent swingman Ricardo Ledo is a consensus top 15 player in the country and one of the most explosive scorers around. 

Hotchkiss guard Clyde Smith checks in at number three as the first non-New England resident on the list.  The skilled guard is coming off a big summer, leading his New Heights squad to three championships in the month of July and picking up his first two high-major offers in the process. 

Timajh Parker-Rivera is the top ranked player from the CIAC and fourth overall in Connecticut.  He finished the summer with scholarship offers from St. Joe’s and Seton Hall and still has his best basketball in front of him. 

Kris Dunn comes in just behind Parker-Rivera as the fifth ranked overall player and second in the CIAC.  The New London product burst onto the national scene this spring and summer, scoring himself a steady dose of mid to high-major interest in the process. 

Choate Rosemary Hall’s John Papale and Fairfield Prep’s Terry Tarpey come in sixth and seventh.  Both local swingmen had big summers in their own right, proving their worth to college coaches and both scoring multiple division I offers in the process. 

Another skilled swingman, Stratford’s Tom Bajda, begins the year at  eight but has a chance to make a run north if he can prove capable of being the man for his Stratford team this year.   

Kent forward Stefon Williams checks in at nine.  While the high flying lefty didn’t get a lot of exposure in the summer and consequently still flies a little under the radar, it is only a matter of time before he makes a big name for himself. 

Rounding out the top ten is St. Joseph's guard James Jennings, who scored big early in the summer, taking MVP honors at the Gauchos Roundball Classic. 

Of the top ten players in Connecticut’s class of 2012: seven are true Connecticut natives; eight are New England natives; and five play in the CIAC.
