Commitment Catch-Up
With all of our attention focused squarely on the class of 2016 and beyond in recent weeks, there have been several members of last year's senior class that have made final plans on their futures. Recent Vermont Academy graduate Zack Sandberg has a rundown:
Jeremiah Livingston was one of the most dominant players in Connecticut. The 5’11 guard led Westhill High School to an undefeated regular season with averages of 25.7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Livingston was conference MVP, first team all state, and the second leading scorer in school history with over 1,500 points scored in his career. Livingston will attend Harcum Junior college in Pennsylvania.
Ben Malloy of Bonny Eagle High School announced he will be attending Saint Joseph’s College. Molloy, one of the top shooters in the state of Maine, finished his career as a four year starter with 200 made 3 pointers and 1,058 points.
Noah Thomas (Bridgton Academy) will head home next year and attend IUPUI. The 6’9 big man played key minutes for Bridgton last year and can potentially crack the rotation next year.
Charlie Crockett of the Brooks School will attend Syracuse as a member of their crew team. The big man was first team in NEPSAC Class B.
Darrick Boyd will attend Lee Academy next season as a post graduate. The 5’8 guard finished his career at Chicopee with 1,349 points.
Walter King will attend the University of Maine next year as a recruited walk-on. The 5’11 point guard from New York attended Lee Academy this past season as a Postgrad after starring at Stepinac in White Plains.
Zach Bergeon of Campbell High School in Litchfield, New Hampshire, will play next season at Wentworth College. The 6’4 wing was second team All-State in the NHIAA.
One of the most decorated players in Norwalk history, Roy Kane Jr., will take a postgrad year at Notre Dame Prep. Kane is the second all time leading scorer in the city of Norwalk, finishing with over 2,000 points scored.
St. Marks small forward Aaron McLean has committed to the University of Connecticut as a member of the football team. McLean was third team in NEPSAC Class B.
Connor O’Neill has committed to the University of Georgia as a preferred walk-on. O’Neill, a versatile two-way forward, was a key contributor in Tilton’s Class AA championship season.
Nylan Yancy, a postgrad at the Masters School, will be returning home to Texas to attend Jacksonville Junior College. Yancy, a combo guard, was already qualified and could consequently come out next year with three years of eligibility.
Chibuzer Ogbue of Masters School committed to Norwich University in Vermont. At 6’5, Ogbue is a lanky athlete and strong defender. He plays above the rim and has great potential moving forward.
Denis Tobin was buried in one of the most talented backcourts in the MIAA last season at Catholic Memorial, but is an excellent shooter who should excel at Clark University.
Originally committed to Maryland East-Shore, Putnam Science postgrad Josh Wallace, will now attend Palm Beach State. A combo guard, Wallace has come a long way and will continue to improve as the years go on.
Simi Socks of Bridgton Academy will attend Panola Junior College next year. Socks came to Maine from Texas and was a dangerous player on both ends of the floor and high level athlete.
Two time New Hampshire Division II player of the year, Jourdain Bell has committed to Colby Sawyer for next year. Bell led Bishop Brady High School to its first championship since 1997.
Nick Morris of New Hampton will head home to play for the University of Toronto next season. The 6’9 big man provided a spark off the bench for New Hampton.
Justin Martin, a versatile 6-foot-6 forward, is staying close to home to play for Husson University in Bangor, Maine next falls.
Jesse Wims of Metro Boston and Belmont Hill School will take a Post Grad year at Worcester Academy. Wims is a skilled big-man who stretches opposing defenses to the arc and is coming off a strong AAU season with Metro Boston.
Tyrell Jackson of MacDuffie School will attend and play at Mount Ida College next season. Jackson is very quick with the ball in his hands and a lockdown defender.
Adam Kleckner a versatile inside-out forward for Belmont High School last year, who will now head to Ithaca College to continue his basketball career.
Two sport standout Sultan Olusekun will attend Wesleyan University as a member of both the football and basketball teams. The point guard was a lockdown defender who earned Honorable Mention in Class A this past season.
