Coleman Earns Full Scholarship

Catholic Memorial High School and Metro Boston senior Ulyen Coleman made a verbal commitment to head coach Scott Burrell and Southern Connecticut State University on Monday night and subsequently signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the Northeast 10 Conference division II school.

The 6-foot-5 southpaw was named a Catholic Conference All-Star as a junior before standing out this spring and summer with Metro Boston.

Southern Connecticut became the first school to offer Coleman a full scholarship following his performance at Big Apple Summer Showcase in the second week of the July live period.

"Ulyen had a great summer and NERR's Big Apple event provided him with the ability to display his skills in front of the college coaches," Metro Boston head coach and program director Mauricio Vasquez said. "He's a great kid with upside. He put in the work to get this opportunity and I'm happy for him and his family."

A skilled and heady wing who is a versatile scorer that can shoot it with range or create space in the mid-range area, all while dictating his own pace, Coleman is also going to be capable of playing both forward positions at the division II level.

He becomes the second Catholic Memorial product to commit to an NE-10 school in as many years following Brandon Twitty's pledge to Stonehill last year.
