CCSU Gets Lee’s Speech
Central Connecticut just picked up a nice commitment from Lee Academy post-graude DeAngelo Speech.
Speech, an Illinois native, was flying low under the radar after not playing on the summer AAU circuit, traveling north to Maine for his prep school ball, and then missing some time early in the season with injury.
But give Central Connecticut head coach Howie Dickenman and his staff credit for doing their due diligence and landing a player who has the talent and physical attributes to make an immediate impact in the Northeast Conference.
A six-foot-five one-hundred-and-eight pound swingman, Speech is a bit of a jack of all trades who emergence over the course of Lee's season as arguably their most dependable player.
Effective on both ends of the ball, Speech consistently scored mid-double figures for Lee while also defending the opposition's best perimeter scorer on a nightly basis. A great defender and extremely hard worker, he also possesses the toughness and numerous other intangibles that are likely to make him a success under Dickenman.
Speech is the third player to commit to Central in the class of 2010 joining point guard Daquan Brickhouse from Peekskill High School in New York and center Justin Alexander from Southwest High School in Texas.
