Cassell Confirms De-Commitment
It was last Sunday that reports began to circulate the internet that Sam Cassell Jr. had committed to the University of Maryland, his hometown school and the program who had been recruiting him since the summer.
But less than 48 hours later the situation seemed much less clear as Cassell's father, former NBA star and current Washington Wizards' assistant coach, Sam Cassell, was quoted as saying those reports were false.
Later in the week, additional rumors began to fly that Cassell Jr. would soon be taking additional visits.
On Sunday night, Cassell Jr. spoke with ESPN, confirming that he did in fact commit, but adding that he reconsidered shortly afterwards.
After clarifying his status, Cassell went on to detail his upcoming visit schedule and said he would eventually choose from among Maryland, South Florida, Florida State, and Villanova.
