Cammann commits to Harvard
Andover High School alum, incoming Brewster Academy post-grad, & Middlesex Magic big man Aidan Cammann announced his commitment to Harvard last night.
Cammann had a standout high school career at Andover. He helped lead the Golden Warriors to the MIAA Division 1 State Semifinals this past high school season, averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds. Cammann also earned Eagle-Tribune MVP honors and was Boston Herald All-Scholastics selection.
On the AAU circuit, he played a key role for Middlesex Magic winning the ZGXL league last year. He also helped them win the Under Armour Association Spring Championships a few weeks ago.
“Aidan Cammann’s growth through the last three years in our program has been amazing,” said Middlesex Magic program director and 17u head coach Michael Crotty. "His ability to score with his back to the basket over both shoulders, but also his ability to both face up and drive the ball left or right finishing with both hands.”
“That growth offesnively paired with his ability to shoot the three-ball has really completed him in terms of his ability to score the ball. His passing ability has always been a strength and his ability to deliver passes to his teammates organically and within some of our sets is something that immediately attracted Division One college coaches.”
“His conditioning, development of body, and ability to protect the rim, switch all screens, and hard-hedge ball screens make him such a versatile two-way player which certainly attracted Harvard. I believe after a great career at Andover and another big year ahead for him at Brewster, he will be extremely college ready when he arrives at Harvard in the fall of 2023.”
“One other thing I might add about Aidan, his attitude is always positive. His game face is always on, he is never too high or low and is one of the single best teammates I have had the chance to coach. Aidan has been apart of two remarkable teams in the past two years. These included one of our best teams of all time last year, an amazing group this year, as well as the team he played with his sophomore year.”
“He always impacts winning and he is someone that all of his teammates absolutely cheer for. When we told everyone he committed to Harvard tonight, it was received with such great joy from his teammates and I think that is due to the fact that Aidan himself is one of the best teammates we have ever had”
Cammann is Brewster Academy’s and Middlesex Magic’s first 2023 prospect to finalize their college plans.
