Bridgton Guard Heading to Northeastern
Northeastern head coach Bill Coen has made a career out of out-evaluating people on the recruiting trail and his latest commitment is just the most recent example in our opinion as Bridgton Academy guard Alex Harris has committed to the Huskies.
Harris had the reputation of being a streaky player when he arrived in Maine this fall from his home in California. But what he has showed in the eight months since has been anything but inconsistent. In fact, he proved himself to be one of the best guards in all of the NEPSAC this year.
A versatile guard who is a true combo and able to play either backcourt position equally well, Harris is long and athletic, a disruptive playmaker on the defensive end of the floor, very dangerous in the open court, and capable of catching fire with his jumper from behind the three-point line.
But more than all that Harris is a heady player with a good feel for the game. He is a dependable decision maker when running a team and also capable of scoring in high volume from off the ball. He was Bridgton's leading scorer this year at 20 points per game and also set a school record by knocking down nine three-pointers in one game.
Harris becomes the third player to commit to Northeastern this year, joining six-foot-ten center Ryan Pierson and six-foot-eight forward Alex Bates.
