Bridgton Forward Makes Pick
Bridgton Academy post-graduate forward Markus Crider signed a National Letter of Intent with George State on Monday, before announcing the news via his twitter account.
“I'm officially a Georgia State University Panther. All the paper work is done and signed. I'm taking my talents south to Atlanta GA,” he tweeted.
Crider committed to former Providence College head coach Keno Davis during his senior season at Wayne High School in Dayton, Ohio but opted for a post-graduate season at Bridgton following a coaching change at Providence.
This year, he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game at Bridgton while also recording three triple-doubles, earning himself honorable mention honors as an All New England selection.
“I’m very excited to be adding a player of Markus’ talent to our team,” Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter said. “He will be a great addition to our wings. I’m also excited that he is from my hometown of Dayton which has produced many talented basketball players over the years.”
Georgia State had recruited Crider hard throughout his post-graduate season but fought off some high-major competition as of late with the talented forward taking an official visit to Nebraska.
Crider is one of eight players to sign with Georgia State in the class of 2012, including four during the late signing period.
