Brewster’s Kisunas Picks Stanford
It was only 18 months ago that Lukas Kisunas arrived in the United States and at Brewster Academy from his home country of Lithuania.
He flew through the night, arrived without much sleep, but still joined the team at their early morning workout. College coaches were in the gym that afternoon and despite only getting a few hours of sleep the night before, Kisunas made a quick impression.
He made it clear that first day that he was exactly the piece the Bobcats was missing up front. He went on to anchor the team's frontline as the starting center for a group that became the first prep program in recent history to go undefeated, winning both the NEPSAC AAA championship as well as the National Prep Championship.
Last spring he ran with the New England Playaz before returning home over the summer to star for the Lithuanian junior national team as they competed in the European Championships.
Later that fall, after picking up a few different high-major offers, Kisunas committed to the University of Connecticut. Following the season, and the coaching change at UConn, Kisunas re-opened his recruitment and earned new offers from the likes of Arizona and Stanford among others.
Kisunas, who is also an excellent student, announced his commitment to the Cardinals on Tuesday night, following his official visit to their campus over the weekend.
Thank you to all the coaches who took time to recruit me (again). I'm excited to announce my commitment to study & play basketball at the best school in the world to do both, Stanford University! pic.twitter.com/XMJIUnhG93

A strong and rugged big man, Kisunas will bring an element of physicality to the Stanford frontcourt that they were prioritizing this spring. He's also a very good passer off the post, heady big man, and solid post defender.
He joins Milton Academy's Cormac Ryan and New Hampton's Keenan Fitzmorris to become the third NEPSAC product to commit to Stanford. In fact, all four members of Stanfor'd 2018 class play in the northeast as that trio is joined by Byrce Wills from Iona Prep in New York.
