Brennan Picks Princeton

Milton Academy big man Alec Brennan made a verbal commitment to Princeton University on Monday night, giving the Tigers a major addition with their fourth pledge in the 2014 class.

Brennan joins New Hampton forward Mike Leblanc and 2013 Northfield Mount Hermon graduate Peter Miller to become the third New England product to commit to Princeton in the last two years.

Tiger’s head coach Mitch Henderson got the good news in person on Monday while visiting Milton Academy’s campus.

“Coach Henderson came up to school and I just thought it was a good opportunity,” Milton told the New England Recruiting Report.

Henderson’s trip came shortly after Brennan visited Princeton officially this weekend, alongside Leblanc and six-foot-three guard Amir Bell, both of whom were already committed.

“It was a great weekend.  I liked the coaches a lot, and especially after meeting the players, it just felt like the right place for me,” Brennan said.  “Obviously the academic side of things was very important.  Princeton is a great school and they have a great basketball program.”

A highly skilled big man with complimenting physical tools, Brennan’s recruitment jumped to a new level in the summer of 2012.  Since that time he’s been pursued by top academic and athletic schools alike with his final list including schools from the Big Ten, ACC, and PAC-12

“I think it’s a good fit,” said Expressions head coach Ty Boswell.  “They allow their bigs to play on the perimeter and if he stays healthy he’ll have an opportunity to be an impact guy coming in to the Ivy League.”

Brennan joins Abdul-Malik Abu (North Carolina State), Jared Terrell (Oklahoma State), and Idris Taqqee (St. Bonaventure) to become the fourth member of Expressions’ senior class to make his commitment since the end of the July evaluation period.

He also becomes the third consecutive Milton Academy product to commit to a division I school in as many years, following up on Dennis Clifford (Boston College) and Ikemefuna Ngwudo (Dartmouth).
