Big East Bound in ‘17

New England Recruiting Report | Sunday, December 25th, 2016

Putnam Science Academy and New England Playaz big man Darnell Brodie announced his verbal commitment to Seton Hall University on Saturday night.

The New Jersey native, who initially reclassified to 2018 upon his arrival at PSA, will return to his original class of 2017 and join the Pirates next season.

He announced his commitment via his twitter account.

A 6-foot-9 250 pound big man, Brodie is built like an NFL lineman and has made consistent strides learning how to use his naturally powerful frame to his advantage inside the paint. He has good hands, wide shoulders, and is virtually impossible to move in the paint and so a definite factor on both ends of the floor, and while he's really a definite center in today's version of college basketball, he has also consistently worked to extend his game away from the basket.

Brodie joins Robert Durant (AIC) to become the second member of PSA's 2017 class to commit to a scholarship level school and is the 7th member of the Playaz class to do so, joining Jerome Desrosiers (Princeton), Tomas Murphy (Northeastern), Kellan Grady (Davidson), Jordan Mello-Klein (Bentley), Matt Dewolf (Brown) and Shyheim Hicks (LIU).
