BABC Select Tour Recap

For the second consecutive year, BABC spent the first weekend of the club season traveling the state of Massachusetts for the 2nd Annual BABC Select Tour. By Sunday night, the BABC Sophomores had posted a 4-0 record, while the BABC Juniors posted a 5-0 record; playing a total of five forty minute games in the span of 44 hours, over five cities, and traveling over 350 miles with a roster of seven players, missing point guard Ikenna Ndugba and forwards Bob Martin and Kevin Marfo to injury.

The tour kicked off Friday night at Quincy High School with the South Select Fitzy-Nolan games. The BABC Sophomores were able to pull away in the second half to earn the 80-60 victory over the South Region underclassmen. Leading the way for BABC was Cambridge guard Jakigh Dottin who poured in a game high 28pts. Also playing well for BABC was Suffield Academy prospect Garrett Stephenson, who netted 11pts from the interior. The South underclassmen were led  by the impressive duo from Bridgewater-Raynham High School, guard Terrell Williams (18pts) and forward Marcus Santos-Silva (14pts.) The South underclassmen were led by Durfee Coach, Jameson Guimond and Oliver Ames Coach, Don Byron. The nightcap at Quincy saw the BABC Juniors defeat a pesky South Region senior team, 95-82. A sharpshooter's night, BABC and Newton North product, Tommy Mobley, scored 22pts while going 6-9 from deep, and Mansfield High School product Ryan Boulter
proved why he may be the most underrated player not to receive a scholarship yet, pouring in a game high 31pts, going a blistering 9-13 from deep. Also playing well for BABC was St. Andrews big man Terrell Brown who had 20pts to go along with 6 rebounds, and Bruce Brown who had 16pts. Backing up Boulter’s monster performance was Brockton forward Garrison Duvivier who had 25pts.

Saturday saw the action take place at Worcester Academy and the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. In the morning session, the BABC Sophomores were able to fight off a pesky and talented Central Region underclassmen team, earning the victory 66-62. Leading the way for BABC was Jakigh Dottin and Bishop Hendricken guard Justin Mazzulla, who had 17pts and 11pts respectively. Shining for the Central Region underclassmen was Quaboag Regional guard Wil Watkins who scored 17pts. Also victorious, the BABC Juniors defeated the Central Region Seniors 85-50. Leading the way for BABC was Vermont Academy guard Patrick Fisher (16pts) and Somerville’s Fru Che who chipped in with 12. The Central Region seniors were led by Wachusett guard Tyler Dion, who pulled double duty and had 10pts.

At the HOF in Springfield, the Sophomores were able to defeat the West Underclassmen 97-55. BABC was led by Jakigh Dottin (19pts), Nick O’Sarren (16pts) and Caden Dumas (11pts). The West were led by Putnam’s Tyonne Malone (17pts). The Juniors were able to fight off a pesky West Region senior team, 82-74. BABC was led by Bruce Brown (21pts), Tilton School guard Brett Hanson (16pts) and Tommy Mobley (13pts). The West was led by South Hadley’s Cam Earle (24pts) and Northampton’s Aidan Hirsch (13pts).

Sunday saw the action at Salem State University with the Sophomores defeating the North Region underclassmen 101-63. Leading the way for BABC was Justin Mazzulla and Keyshad Dixon who both had 15pts. The North underclassmen were led by Malden Catholic’s Michael Boyd who had 25pts. The second game of the day saw the BABC Juniors defeat the North Region seniors 84-53. BABC was led by Bruce Brown (23pts), Ryan Layman (17pts) and Tommy Mobley (16pts.) The North seniors were
led by Andover’s Connor Merinder (15pts) and Cambridge guard Isaiah McLeod (14pts).

Finishing off the weekend, the BABC Juniors defeated the Rhode Island seniors at CCRI in Warwick, RI in the RI Select/George Tedino Memorial game 86-70. BABC was led by Bruce Brown(21pts), Tommy Mobley(17pts), and Fru Che who turned in an impressive performance of 17pts and 24 rebounds. The RI select team was led by the post grad duo of Rider commit Kealan Ives and Damon Gomes, who remains one of New England’s top unsigned seniors.
