Arizona Out; Vanderbilt In

Rod Odom de-committed from Arizona late Sunday night and made a verbal commitment to Vanderbilt early Monday morning. 

When Odom originally committed to Arizona less than three weeks ago, he was blunt about the fact that Arizona barely edged out Vanderbilt. 

“I was real close to going to Vanderbilt last night,” Odom told SNY’s Adam Zagoria at the time, “but I’ve been talking it over with my mom and dad and we made that decision.”

Well given a few additional weeks to think about it and Odom has now had a change of heart with academics reportedly playing a big role in the decision. 

Scout.com broke the story early Monday morning. 

Odom is a six-foot-eight perimeter player who earned recruitment from some of the most prestigious high major schools in the country after an impressive July live period, including time spent with the Expressions Elite program. 

Ultimately, he earned scholarship offers from the likes of Arizona, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Boston College, West Virginia, and Harvard.

Odom has the talent to make an immediate impact on the Vanderbilt program and gives Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings a legitimate top 100 prospect to build his SEC class around.
