Ansong Earns Late Full Ride

Canterbury School post-graduate wing Emmanuel Ansong made a late commitment to division II Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia on Thursday.

Ansong graduated from Bordentown High School in New Jersey as part of the class of 2018 before arriving in New England. He was a quick star for Canterbury first year head coach Brian Baudinet and was named All-New England in Class B of the NEPSAC following the season.

An absolutely explosive athlete, Ansong plays above the rim like few others and has the ability to change the momentum of a game in a single play. He's become more than an athlete over the course of the last year though as he's developed his body, improved his ability to make perimeter shots, and become more consistent with his motor.

This spring, he was even selected to participate in the National High School Slam Dunk Contest that aired live on CBS, and yet he still remained unsigned.

Ansong joined Jersey Force for the summer and after turning in big performances at the Big Apple Showcase and other July events, he picked up offers from Holy Family, Felician, and Wheeling Jesuit. He visited all three campuses in recent weeks before committing to the Cardinals on Thursday. He becomes the 11th member of Jersey Force's 2018 class to earn an athletic scholarship.
