All-Academic Camp - Recap II

The high-paced action continued Sunday morning in Waltham, MA.  While Friday night and Saturday saw the emergence of several frontcourt prospects, Sunday belonged to the guards.  The following players were able to prove themselves in front of scouts from the top academic conferences in the country.
 
Kendall Jackson (Suffield, 2013)- After a solid showing on Saturday, Jackson emerged as one of the better guards at Brandeis on Sunday morning.  He is lightening-quick in the open court and always a threat to get into the lane.  Unlike many guards, he keeps his head up when he gets in the paint, giving him the opportunity to dish off to his teammates.  He is one to watch for the rest of July.
 
Graham Gilleran (Archbishop Riordan, 2013)- A stretch forward at 6'7', Gileran is an interesting prospect.  The San Francisco native proved to be a great shooter with good shot selection.  He plays every play like it's his last, and is a monster on the boards.  His recruitment should increase as a result of his play this weekend.
 
Reveal Chukwujekwu (Stake Jesuit College Prep, 2013)- Chukwujekwu continued to turn heads with his superior athleticism and quick handle.  He showed that he can run an offense in the half court, displaying the necessary patience and precision that is required of a point guard at a high level.
 
Michael Signer (Morris Knolls, 2013)- The 6'4'' forward has a nice all-around offensive game.  He plays really hard all the time, and can get to the hoop and finish through contact.  Because of his smooth shooting stroke and ability to score in the post, he presents a matchup problem every time he steps on the court.
 
Tommy Mobley (Newton North, 2015)- Mobley is a solid all-around offensive player.  He is a slaher who has multiple ways to get to the rim, and can shoot well so the defense must stay honest.
 
Ry'n Bland (Bishop Eustace Prep, 2013)- The Sicklerville, NJ native continued his strong play inside, staying active and collecting offensive rebounds throughout the game.  He also showcased his interior passing with a few dazzling passes.
 
Denzell Jackson (Suffield, 2013)- Jackson was a beast on the offensive boards.  His powerful inside game could not be contained, and he is one to watch on the Suffield Academy squad this upcoming season.
 
Matt Staubi (Darien, 2014)- Staubi continued his fantastic play into Sunday.  With the game more of a half-court affair, he proved he could make plays for others in a different setting.
 
Charlie Zaepfel (McQuaid Jesuit, 2014)- Zaepfel is a sturdy point guard who is a great game manager.  He is sneaky quick, and can run a team in his sleep.  Look for big things for the junior up in Webster, NY this winter.
 
Keegan Ryan (Beekmantown Central, 2013)- The big man got great post position and was able to finish strong throughout the day.  Rebounding is definately one of his strengths, as he is great of boxing out his man and going and getting the ball.
 
Shiraz Mumtaz (Brookline, 2013)- The local product hit shots from all over the court all weekend.  He gave us a glimpse of his steady mid-range game with a series of fluid pull-up jumpers.
 
Aaron Swenson (Middlesex School, 2014)- Another steady point guard, Swenson changed speeds really well, and was a bull on the defensive end.  His quick feet enabled him to keep his man in front every time.
 
Ryan McDonnell (Newark Academy, 2013)- Along with his high motor, McDonnell has a nice set of moves for a post player.  His combination of hook shots and up-and-unders proved difficult for defenses to defend.  He was the most vocal player on defense of anyone who played this weekend, constantly being heard from the next court.
 
Luis Garcia (Cathedral, 2013)- Garcia played as hard as anyone, hitting the floor multiple times during his game.  His hustle was not lost on his teammates and the opposition, as he gained admiration from everyone watching that particular game.
 
Nick Simon (Ridgewood, 2013)-  Simon displayed a nice lefty hook shot over the course of the game on Sunday.  He is a steady, 6'3'' guard/forward who can play out on the perimeter or down on the low block.  He has a high motor and is always in motion on offense.
 
Jake Cohen (Lower Moreland, 2013)- The Pennsylvania product hit big, perimeter shots throughout his contest, stretching the defense and giving more room for his offense (including Simon) to maneuver.
