Ajayi Comes off Board

One of the best players left on the board in the 2015 class made his decision on Tuesday night as Cheshire Academy post-graduate Josh Ajayi committed to South Alabama.

The six-foot-six two-hundred-and-fifty pound forward put up huge numbers all season long for the Fighting Cats and was arguably their most consistent offensive threat and one of the driving forces that helped lead them to the post-season in just their first season in the AA ranks.

A bit of a "dancing bear," Ajayi combines both incredible upper body strength with exceptionally agile feet and mobility for a guy his size. In total, he's a match-up nightmare who can both go through contact or around it and is equally effective operate with his back to the basket as he is facing up off the dribble.

Ajayi is also a high volume rebounder.

The California native added scholarship offers from schools in the America East, NEC and MAAC during the course of the season, but South Alabama came in late last month, not only offering a scholarship but also quickly setting up an official visit.

Ajayi visited last week and came away impressed.

"I really loved it," he told Jags Jungle. "The coaching staff was awesome, the players were as well and the whole campus life was awesome. I really saw my self going there and saw myself making an impact on the team. Can't wait to get there"

Ajayi joins Austin Nehls (Central CT) and Tyler Hamilton (Penn) to become the third Cheshire Academy product to commit to a division I program this year and 5th overall to make plans to play at the next level with Dean Weiner (Colby) and Drew Peterson (McGill).
