Crew Ainge 2015

Kimball Union Academy and New England Playaz guard Crew Ainge committed to Utah State on Saturday, following an official visit to their campus earlier this week.

Ainge will take his two year Mormon Mission following his graduation and join the Aggies in the class of 2017.

The youngest son of Boston Celtics' President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge, Crew became the most widely recruited prospect left on the board in New England's 2015 class this spring, landing scholarship offers from Binghamton, UNC Greensboro, San Diego, and most recently, Utah State.

The Aggies' offer came less than a month ago and then last week, Ainge took consecutive trips to Utah State and San Diego respectively, announcing his decision immediately afterward.

Ainge improved by leaps and bounds over the course of the last three years. Initially, he was known primarily for his high motor, as he was a player who would come off the bench and immediately infuse energy on the game and make things happen on both ends. As he matured though, he began to develop both his frame and his skill set, evolving into a player who, this season, had the opportunity to become the focal point of KUA's attack.

It was a role he would eventually thrive in, putting up some huge numbers down the stretch of his senior season. The performance that first caught everyone's attention came back in late January when he put 35 points on the board against Brewster Academy. A few days later it was a triple-double against Holderness followed by 25 points against Tilton and 29 versus Wilbraham and Monson in a string of outings that led to his first two division I offers.

KUA head coach Michael Olson recently took to his own twitter account to credit his star guard's "hard work, high I.Q. and self confidence" as the basis for his continued improvement, and ultimately, the springboard to a division I scholarship.

Below are some of the highlights of his high school and grassroots career:
