AIC Adds Ikpah Late

Sesoo Ikpah, originally from New Jersey, completed his post-graduate year at Lee Academy in Maine this year.  Ikpah had a strong season, especially on the defensive end of the floor, where he established himself as one of the premier perimeter defenders in all of New England.

Offensively he is also extremely effective as he has the versatility to play several positions.  His ball skills and basketball I.Q. are sound enough to handle the point guard duties while his size (6’3”) allows him to fill either wing spot as well where he is capable of being more of a scoring threat.

Ikpah’s commitment is a major one for Head Coach Art Luptowski, not only because it is so late in the year but because he is a talented player who could have easily ended up on the division I level.  In fact Ikpah was receiving a wide variety of division I interest throughout the course of the year and appears to have fallen to the division II level through no fault of his own.

At AIC Ikpah should be able to serve as a major contributor right away for a team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the Northeast 10 Conference last year, arguably the most competitive division II league in the country.

Thus far Ikpah’s commitment is of a verbal nature as the paperwork to make it official was a few days away from being completed as of Tuesday.  Consequently Coach Luptowski is still unable to comment on his addition to the team.
