9 MPA Senior Standouts

Maine's MPA continues to develop players who bring toughness and skill to the floor every night. With the season rolling, these unsigned seniors are putting up impressive numbers and making their case for the next level. Their ability to produce, compete, and impact winning makes them standouts worth following closely.

Nolan Ames, Camden Hills: The KVAC Player of the Year for Class A North as a junior, Ames is building on that success by leading Maine Class A in scoring 25.9 PPG. Recently exploding for 33 points and 9 rebounds against Oxford Hills, he showcases his ability to take over games. He rebounds the ball well for a guard, makes things happen off the dribble getting downhill, and shoots the three ball well with confidence.

Adam Fitzgerald, Scarborough: Fitzgerald is a 6'3 shooting guard averaging 17 PPG as a senior and ranking second in Class A in three pointers made. One of the top shooters in Maine, he creates his own shots with a smooth jumper while also getting to the rim. His high motor shows defensively as he picks up full court, and his tight handle combined with his quick hands allows him to make plays on both ends of the floor.

Akol Maiwen, Edward Little: A two-way guard, Maiwen, standing at 6'2, ranks second in Class A scoring at 22.9 PPG while lighting it up from behind the arc. His tight handle allows him to create for others, while his length becomes a major asset on defense. A strong on-ball defender with long arms and active hands, he uses his physical tools to disrupt opposing offenses. Maiwen is looking to lead Edward Little on a playoff run while he narrows down the next step in his basketball journey.

Reece MacDonald, York: Averaging over 20 PPG, Macdonald is an all-around guard who does a bit of everything. An efficient knockdown three-point shooter who also gets to the rim, he has a deep bag of moves that he uses to navigate through defenses and get to the hoop. His ability to create different angles and use different techniques to get open makes him tough to guard. Sound in his decision-making and limiting turnovers, he is a reliable floor general who consistently makes the right plays.

Cai Dougher, Spruce Mountain: An athletic 6'3 guard, Dougher impacts the game across the stat sheet, averaging 15.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 2 APG, and 2.6 SPG. He is very efficient on offense, shooting above 40% from three and above 50% from the field despite high usage. His size, athleticism, and production in multiple different ways make him a complete player who affects winning on both ends of the floor.

DeShaun Alston, Thornton Academy: Leading Class A in three-pointers made, Alston is averaging 17.3 PPG and proving he can score from all three levels of the floor. His ability to knock down shots from deep opens driving lanes, where he uses his quickness to get to the basket and finish. Beyond his offensive versatility, he is a strong on ball defender whose fast hands create constant pressure, generating deflections and steals that turn defense into offense.

AJ Moody, Windham: A member of back-to-back state championship teams, Moody looks to lead Windham to a third straight title. The 6'2 shooting guard is a bouncy athlete who uses his explosiveness to impact the game, finishing above the rim and crashing the boards. A defensive stopper who locks down opposing guards with his physicality and lateral quickness, he sets the tone on defense. A two sport athlete who also plays football, his defense and competitive mentality are cornerstones to Windham's recent success.

Tyrie James, Windham: Ranking in the top 5 in Class A at 19.4 PPG, James is a dynamic guard who can get hot from three. His quick first step and tight handle allow him to attack the rim with purpose, finishing with either hand. A playmaking guard who communicates well and makes plays on defense, he looks to lead Windham to a third straight state championship alongside his senior running mate Moody.

Lucas Legage, Portland HS, Wentworth Institute of Technology Commit: Averaging 17.9 PPG, Legage is a lights-out shooter from deep who takes care of the basketball. He gets to his spots efficiently, rarely makes bad passes, and limits turnovers. His shooting ability and basketball IQ made him an attractive recruit leading him to Wentworth Institute of Technology.
