2025 Prep Profile: Mount Saint Charles

Mount Saint Charles enters its second year in the NEPSAC with a young squad that has high expectations. The Mounties made some noise in their first year as a NEPSAC AA program last year, and look to keep the momentum going this season.

With Ladi Odugbela at the helm, the Mounties will be prepared to compete and hang in games despite having a very young squad.

The Returners

Soren Lolonga and Segun Sanni headline the returners in the class of 2027 and will serve as two of the eldest players on the team.

Lolonga, a 6’5” southpaw guard, is starting to get the traction he’s earned as the dynamic scorer he is. He’s known as a driving threat that can step into jumpers.

Sanni, a 6’8” forward in his second season with the squad, looks to keep his upward trajectory going. His rim protection and ability to clog lanes with his length are vital.

Kyle Delves will lead the team once again at the point guard position heading into his sophomore year. The Rhode Island native has made noise as a Division 1 recruit already with his poised, efficient game. He’s a threat to finish with athleticism, spray the ball around to get others their looks, or score the ball on jumpers.

Isaac Olaniba has started to really come around as a three-point shooter that coaches have raved about this fall. The 6’8 Nigerian native enters his second season at MSC in the class of 2028.

The Newcomers

Ethan Ostane is undoubtedly going to have a strong role on the team as their lone senior this season. The Brooklyn native has earned multiple Division 1 offers with his efficient scoring skills and playmaking chops.

Elijah Omar is a very intriguing name in the class of 2027 that will certainly get some looks. The big 6’9 forward brings a ton of mobility and two-way play to the floor at his towering size. Devin Sone, a Rhode Island native, is another 2027 name to keep an eye on, joining the squad. Sone has made rounds within the Ocean State for his knockdown shooting and stout defense.

Modu Abdulrahman makes his way to MSC from South Kent following a strong season with Team New England this past summer. The 6’7 sophomore has a solid shooting foundation already, with the ability to attack the rim for dunks.

Franklin Okeke is yet another big prospect on the team as a 6’11 sophomore center. Okeke caught our eye this past September due to his daunting size, defensive skill, and glaring upside.

Keep an eye out for minutes from seventh grader Zaiden Odugbela, who's been elevated to the varsity squad this winter. Odugbela has advanced ability for his young age, showing that throughout the grassroots season as he played at the high school level.

Defining Characteristics

Mount Saint Charles will, without a doubt, be one of the youngest teams in NEPSAC AA this winter. While some may use that as an excuse, Coach Ladi’s team will not, and their internal expectations will certainly be high.

They have a very nice blend of guards with solid size, wing shooters, and lots of length that will cause havoc defensively as they enter year two.

The Bottom Line

Mount Saint Charles will be a competitive team and a hard out for many as they enter year two. With a strong first season under their belt, the Mounties will look to put more wins together this season and begin to become a recurring figure in the AA conversation moving forward.
