2025 Prep Profile: Macduffie
The Mustangs of the Macduffie School enter this season with an experienced group, hungry to come in and start fresh. With leaders and additions in the class of 2026, Macduffie will be ready to compete with those among the top of the NEPSAC’s AA class.
The Returners
Patrick Sagna was a true standout in his showing at the Connecticut Open Gym a couple of weeks ago, and looks to be a force in his second season in AA. The guard’s plus wingspan and motor allow him to really give opposing guards trouble on-ball while he gets above the rim and into the paint on offense.
Connecticut native Elijah Avery-Turner looks to cap off his high school career on a high note in his final season at Macduffie. A 6’4” power guard, Avery-Turner’s strength and size, coupled with his athleticism in the lane, are notable. He adds another layer to their high-energy defense.
Mihailo Vojinovic looks to keep his development on the right path, using his ability to impact the game as a big man with some post footwork and an eye for getting inside.
Keyshon Joyner will be a focal point for Macduffie this winter as their floor general point guard. The Worcester native makes things happen with the ball in his hand, navigating around the floor with his sound handle and threading the ball through tight windows. His multi-level scoring is another plus for the squad.
Johnny Akot Bol’s development has caught the eyes of many as he continues to go through the years. The mobile big man’s ability to seal off the paint and compete with opposing bigs will be crucial to Macduffie’s success. He’s shown growth as a standstill floor spacer and post scorer.
The Newcomers
2026’s Brayden Harris and Andrew Adegbite join the Macduffie School this winter and are expected to make immediate impacts from Day 1.
Harris comes to New England as a postgrad from California. A 6’5” wing, the newcomer will be expected to contribute consistently in the scoring column. He’s fluid with budding shot creation skills to rise up into jumpers off the bounce.
Adegbite has received a couple of Division II offers already and looks to be a major factor for Macduffie this winter. The New Jersey native brings size to the frontcourt along with the ability to assert himself defensively and on the glass.
Daniel Wheeler makes the short trip over to Macduffie from Longmeadow High School, where he starred through his first two years. He adds much-needed off-ball shotmaking to the squad, while serving as a stable secondary decision maker.
Xavier McCall is one we’ve seen a lot of this fall and will continue to be among the top names in the 2029 class to monitor as he gets his NEPSAC career underway. He transfers in from nearby Amherst.
Defining Characteristics
Macduffie will be able to give opposing offenses a really hard time with the level of competition their guys bring on the defensive end. They have a good blend of length and strength across the floor to really clog lanes and force turnovers in bunches.
Adding in the fact that most of their core is familiar with the system and on the older side, they will be able to compete with many in AA.
Bottom Line
Macduffie is looking to make it back to the postseason this winter as they did not qualify in the 2024-25 season. With the changing landscape in AA and the talent level they will bring on a game-to-game basis, they are in good position to do so.
