2025 Frosh/Soph #E75 - Best of the Guards pt. 5

Connor Hynes, Roxbury Latin - With a good blend of wing/guard skills, Hynes stood out in his showing at the Elite 75 once again. The Roxbury Latin sophomore plays well off two feet in the lane, using his body and vision well to create scoring opportunities on drives. He's able to guard multiple positions on the court at his size and the great defensive anticipation he brings.

 

Tamare Reynolds, Notre Dame Prep - A big guard heading into his freshman year at Notre Dame Prep, Reynolds has impressive upside to monitor as he gets his high school career underway. He's strong and tough with an eye for getting to the basket using his crafty handle, and his athleticism is outstanding as he can get up and finish with authority above the basket.

 

Jayriel Garcia, Newington - The sophomore guard brings an energizing twist to the floor along with his crafty handle. Garcia can speed past defenders, breaking them down off the dribble and getting to the rim. In the lane, he has a bag of crafty finishes to score it off the glass, and he does a good job of snapping passes as well.

 

Chase Smith, Loomis-Chaffee - Smith is an exciting two-sport standout repeating his freshman year at Loomis. Mature playmaker who should be a contributor from day one for the Pelicans.

 

CJ McCrae, Milton Acad - McCrae is a crafty point guard with an impressive ability to finish at the rim above bigger players. He plays through contact, and can make shots from multiple spots on the floor. Another coach's son who has a bright future to keep track of.

 

HD Proctor, Dexter Southfield - Proctor is a knockdown shooter from three, has impressive interior and perimeter defensive instincts, and is a well-rounded player who will look to be a nice piece of the Dexter 2028 class.

 

Jack Driggs, Albany Acad - An incoming freshman, Driggs is a skilled ball handler who finds the open player efficiently when running the point. He uses his speed very well to get past defenders and has solid defensive instincts. 

 

Derek Lugo, Mt. St. Michael - Lugo is in the early stages of his development, but he showed the ability to play and defend multiple positions, and make shots. He has a crafty finishing package and works hard when on the court. 

 

Ethan Katz, Westhill HS - Katz is a crafty scorer with a tight handle and lots of wiggle. Quick enough with the ball to get past defenders, and is a player opposing teams need to account for due to his three-point shooting as well.

 

Ilyas Munye, Deering - A shifty, undersized playmaker who excels with the ball in his hand, beating defenders off the dribble, and has a crafty finishing package at the hoop. Munye showed some ability to knock down outside shots as well.

 

Preston Small, BC High - Small impressed with his defensive abilities and instincts, but also can get hot quickly offensively and buried some deep threes mixed in with some midrange jumpers

 

Bobby Shea, NDWH - Shea understands the game well, gets to the paint, playing well off 2 feet, makes smart decisions, is a solid defender and a good rebounder. His three-point shooting off the catch is impressive as well.

 

Sahib Singh, Catholic Memorial - Singh is a solid defender who can get out in transition to score the rock. The incoming freshman has a good feel and is still in the early stages of his physical development.

 

Casey Wilcox, Somers - Wilcox is a big guard in the making who can really overpower smaller defenders. He has a tight handle, and gets to the hoop consistently. With a strong body already, he all the tools to take a big jump in his game this year.

 

Myles Cunningham, Newton North - Cunningham is an intriguing long-term prospect who is flooded with length to his frame. He runs the floor well, gets to his spots, and could be a totally different player a year from now if he keeps working hard.

 

Marty Rodriguez, Buckley School - Rodriguez is a crafty undersized playmaking guard that brings a jolt of energy to the floor when he steps onto it and has the ball on a string with his handling ability.

 

Robbie Mason, East Providence - Mason is a shifty playmaking guard in the infant stages of his physical development, but has a smooth, mature game. He gets to the rim with ease, can finish above bigger players and was able to knock down some midrange shots.

 

Quincy Cook, Springfield Charter - Cook is a throwback-style playmaking guard with a mature floor game. He plays the game with some swagger, is quick with the ball, and has great vision/feel for his young age.

 

Ryan Azzun, Belmont Hill - The rising sophomore at Belmont Hill has a good amount of potential to keep an eye on as he makes his way through the ranks. Azzun is a high-flyer who can really pressure the rim with his ability to dunk the ball both off the bounce and off lobs. He has a quick handle and uses his strong body to force his way past defenders and to the basket.

 

Ryan Frigiani, Belmont Hill - Joining Belmont Hill this season as a freshman, Frigiani has some game to make an impact down the line in the ISL. Thriving both on and off the ball as a scorer, Frigiani can hit three's off the catch and bounce, make quick secondary passes, and score inside off cuts or takes of his own.

 

Jordan Zhang, Groton - Zhang was a top standout from the Groton School in his E75 debut as he showed out in his game sets. Bringing size to the backcourt at 6'3", Zhang demonstrated an efficient ability to get to his spots using his ballhandling and does a great job of keeping defenders on his hip on drives.

 

Justice Grant, Thayer - Another intriguing young guard at the up-and-coming ISL school, Grant has some game to watch out for. The guard does a great job of attacking lanes in the defense, going right at defenders as he's able to finish through contact. He buys in on the defensive end, and can get into three-pointers well off the catch.

 

Essey Tesfalem, Josiah Quincy - A rising sophomore out of the Boston area, Tesfalem was a strong varsity contributor as a freshman who stood out at the Elite 75. The 5'10" guard brings a high motor to the floor, attacks the basket at-will on drives, has a quick handle and can knock down shots from deep.

 

Rory Christopher, Groton School - Christopher has solid size on the perimeter and works defensively. He pushes the tempo well in transition, and has shown the ability to make shots from midrange and three using  his good shooting stroke.

 

Sean Dolan, Austin Prep - Dolan is a junk yard dog-style point guard. He does a great job of attacking and positioning himself for rebounds at his size. Dolan also plays scrappy defense and makes plays for others when on the floor.
