2025 Frosh/Soph #E75 - Best of the Guards pt. 2

Continuing on with recaps of the guards from the Frosh/Soph Elite 75, here are more names who caught our eye in the event.

Jake Fortier, St. Mary's - Entering his sophomore year, with a season as the starting point guard for St. Mary's already under his belt, Fortier will look to keep the momentum going as he did at the Frosh/Soph Elite 75. The dynamic six-foot guard is a tough matchup for opposing backcourt players as he can slip past them with ease using his quick and tight handle on the ball and score inside, or snap a pass to an open teammate anywhere on the court. Playing with poise and making the right plays seemingly comes naturally to Fortier, and he will again be a player to watch.

Malachi Odugbela, St. Andrew's - The 6'5" guard has a season of NEPSAC AA basketball under his belt, and looks to continue to take his game up a notch entering his sophomore year. Odugbela has a crafty handle to his game, complementing his size very well, and creates shots for himself well off the dribble. While he can scre, and use his length on defense, playing through contact and adding more to his frame will be key to his development.

Max Maturah, Brooks - The rising sophomore is another guard to watch for Coach Kenya Jones at Brooks moving forward. Maturah excels at scoring the basketball off the dribble, getting right into pull-up shots from both the mid-range and from the perimeter. On drives, his skilled game shines as he can competently use either hand to score off the glass, and can do so through contact.

Jake Toomer, Master's (NY) - An incoming freshman at the Masters School in New York, Toomer showed off his bag throughout his appearance at the Elite 75. The guard did a great job of getting downhill against the teams he played, showing off his crafty finishes throughout the day. He finished inside at will using great change of pace and hesitations, while his ability to snap passes and create for others stood out as well.

Lucas Souza, Winthrop - The North Shore guard made himself known with the deep bag of skills he brings to the floor. Souza has length to his wingspan that really helps him keep defenders off balance when handling the ball. He finishes around the basket in a variety of ways and has a smooth outside shot.

Omar Torres, East Catholic - The southpaw guard figures to continue to play himself into a larger role in Coach Reilly's system at East Catholic moving forward. He has great command of the ball with his quick, tight handle and see's holes in the defense exceptionally well to crash the lane and finish inside.

Sage Kennedy, Macduffie - With a lot of length in the backcourt, Kennedy can impact the game in a variety of ways. He has a ton of upside to monitor as he continues to advance through school, but right now his ability to get into shots, and score on drives are strong parts of his game.

Will White, Dexter Southfield - A big reputation follows Will White to Dexter this year as he transfers in as a sophomore. Contributing to the game in many facets is a calling card of what White brings to the floor as he does a great job of breaking down opposing defenses, knocking down shots, and playing with a ton of defensive energy. He will certainly make a name for himself in Class A moving forward.

Aiden Richard, Tewksbury - An electric scoring guard out of the Northern Massachusetts region, Richard has made a name for himself already heading into his freshman year. The Tewksbury prospect can light it up from outside with a quick release on his shot, and the ability to create space off the dribble.

Colin McLaughlin, Hanover - Next in line in the McLaughlin family, Colin has upside to keep track of as he heads into his sophomore year this winter. A skilled scorer that does so at multiple levels, the Hanover guard plays with a lot of energy, attacking the basket and making plays for others.

Darien Rudder, Springfield Central - Transferring from Putnam to Springfield, Rudder will continue to be a name to know out of one of New England's largest cities moving forward. His ability to play with pace, maneuver past defenders to get to the basket, and set the table for others are standout parts of his game.

Ian Gesner, Cushing - With the potential to keep growing, the current guard skill set that Gesner possesses makes him an even more intriguing prospect to look out for. Currently standing at 6'4", the big guard's high motor is eye catching while he can shoot the ball well from multiple levels of the floor.

Ishmael Odugbela, St. Andrew's - Another name to know in the Odugbela family, Ish has upside to make note of as he develops in the Saint Andrew's program. The 6'1" guard may still be growing too, but right now his ability to create space off the dribble stands out as he is able to get right into shots and convert.

Jake Stanger, Milton Acad. - A future impact player in Coach Reddicks' system built on developing young players, Stanger has game to watch as he goes through the years. He is a threat to score the ball both on drives to the basket, and from outside, while he plays with a motor every time he steps onto the floor.

Jonzel Contreras, Haverhill - Contreras looked the part of an excellent facilitator in his outing, creating for his teammates all over the floor by threading them passes. His ability to change speeds off the dribble stood out as well on drives to the cup.

Mac Louridas, Albany Acad - As his brother Jack gets ready for a big senior season before heading to Yale, Mac has potential to make note of. The freshman guard has a smooth outside shot, makes smart plays on the court, and time to develop in the newest NEPSAC programs system.

Marcus Magloire, St. John's Prep - Magloire is a very efficient guard who does a great job of maximizing his touches when he's in the game. In his outing alone, he took limited dribbles, getting right to his spots in the mid-range and on takes to the rim. He will certainly be an MIAA name to track moving forward.

Max Ryan, Austin Prep - The son of a longtime coach, the rising freshman is primed to be another underclassman standout within the Austin Prep program. In his outing, it was the things he did outside of scoring that really stood out as he made strong passing reads and got others good looks for their own shots.

Owen Earle, Wilbraham & Monson - The rising sophomore is one of the most improved players we've seen in the past year and more, as Earle has really started to put things together. Playing with the utmost confidence in himself, Earle attacked the basket at-will in his outing, finishing ferociously many times. He showed his competency as a shooter, and got deflections as well in his time on the court.

Trey Dillahunt, Wilbraham & Monson - A budding reputation as a scorer follows Dillahunt as he makes his way into Coach Mannix's system this year. Dillahunt is a 5'10 guard with a very creative dribble on the basketball and good moves to get into scoring position. His buy-in defensively was well noted by our scouts in his outing as well

Hunter Berry, Worcester - Berry brings a ton of shooting versatility to the floor as he looks to make an impact with Worcester moving forward. He does a great job of knocking down standstill shots, or getting into them off the bounce using his smooth handle on the ball.

Luca Balducci, Loomis - The rising sophomore guard could be due for a good amount of playing time moving forward at Loomis. He does a great job of running an offense as the lead guard, directing traffic, getting others involved with his passing, and drawing in the defense. Keep an eye on his growth down the line.

Baylor Lapin, Iona Prep - Making his way up to the event from New York, Lapin had some momentum behind him from his play this summer. He has shotmaking versatility to his game as he can make them off balance, off the dribble or off the catch. He does a great job of finishing amongst frontcourt players in the paint and is worth monitoring his growth.

Reese Nicol, Ellington - The rising sophomore at Ellington got a bunch of attention for his standout freshman season, and will look to build on that as he heads into his tenth grade year. Nicol needs little to no space to get his shots off, and does a great job of eyeing spots to step right into them. His ability to create for himself is notable as well.

Will Olinto, Boston Latin - A rising star in the MIAA, Will Olinto had a great freshman season playing at a prestigious school in the city of Boston. The skilled 5'10 guard has a knack for scoring the ball especially well on drives to the rim with good body control. He's a smart passer and has the ability to shoot it in his bag too.
