2025 Fall WNY #E75 Recap: The Frontcourt

Size was in abundance at the Western New York Elite 75 yesterday, with about a quarter of the pool of juniors and seniors standing at 6’4 or higher. The talent in that group was there to match the size, as the gym made note of the wings, forwards, and big men who participated.

Here are some names to be familiar with in that group.

Dane Brown, Grand Island: Brown jumped onto our radar this past June out of the Buffalo area and continues to make a name for himself. Standing around the 6’7” mark, Brown brings a versatile skillset to the floor. The big wing knocks down threes with a smooth stroke from outside, attacks the offensive glass, and can finish with authority above the rim. He is a top 2027 prospect in Western New York and will certainly see scholarship looks coming his way.

Henry Fox, Western Reserve: Joining the national powerhouse in Hudson, Ohio, Fox showed out in the limited time he played at the event. He had an eye-catching sequence where he ripped down a defensive board and took it coast-to-coast, making some smooth moves off the dribble to get to the rim. Fox has size, fluidity, and scoring versatility, and has received a Division One interest since the spring.

Jackson Green, Penfield: Another big forward from just outside of Rochester, Green will be a part of a dynamic duo at Penfield this winter with Constantine Johnson. Green excels as a scorer off the bounce, bringing polished footwork and fluidity to the floor on drives to the rim. He made his mark throughout the day, scoring it from beyond the arc and attacking the basket as a slasher.

Na’vant Harrison, Vertus: The 6’6” big man brings a forceful game to the court, which led him to have some dominant stretches throughout the day. Harrison is a brute force on the floor with broad shoulders and a strong frame to push people off his spots. On the day, his ability to score inside with power and rebound the ball at a high clip stood out, cementing Harrison as one of the top big men in the area heading into the winter.

Landon Washburn, Honeoye: Washburn made his Elite 75 debut yesterday in front of some members of our staff, and was a memorable name following the event. Playing efficiently without the ball led to some big moments for Washburn as he made timely cuts to the basket that resulted in dunks and hit shots off the catch. With his length and inside/out skill, the Honeoye junior is a name to be monitoring.

Jayden Cromwell, Liverpool: Cromwell may have had the biggest performance of the event yesterday, as the 6’7” forward had a very impressive stretch in the first half of his initial game set. Cromwell was able to attack the rim with force, and step out and hit three’s off the catch in bunches, resulting in a sequence where he had about three dunks, and three perimeter jumpers fall in a small period of time. His play earned him an on-the-spot Division II offer.

Daniel Regan, Brighton (NY): Regan was a pleasant surprise at the event as the NERR crew became familiar with the Rochester area forward’s game. At 6’4”, Regan has some good size and was able to make an impact with his strength inside, leading to rebounds and above-the-rim finishes.

James Engelbach-Schafer, St. Mary’s of Lancaster: Another notable forward out of the Buffalo area, Engelbach-Schafer’s ability to impact the game without the ball is an impressive aspect of his game. On the day, he set strong screens that helped facilitate the offense, created space as an off-ball shooter, and finished shots when he got in the lane.

Gavin White, Batavia: White plays a strong game as a smaller five-man on the floor who executed his role very well in his outing. The 6’4” forward finished shots inside off the bounce and entry passes consistently, while running the floor, setting screens, and playing with strength.

Alexander Bentley, Rome Free Academy: The 6’4” forward stepped up to play extra game sets on the day, and despite wearing down from the length of play, still showed off his skills. Bentley’s court awareness to make secondary passing reads stood out, while he also made some threes and played with a motor on the boards.

Campbell Mucher, Fillmore: Mucher was able to make himself known in the frontcourt, playing alongside his high school teammate Jonah Bialek. His ability to finish fluidly on slashing opportunities and play through contact caught our attention.

Jameson Zitz, LeRoy: A higher-academic forward, Zitz has length and the ability to impact the game down low that we made note of. He uses his length well to disrupt the opposing offense, and can get up there to finish above the basket.

Jayden Capers, Bishop Kearney: A native of Rochester, Capers made the short drive over yesterday and put himself on the radar heading into his senior year. He made an impact when on the floor as a lengthy forward who contributes defensively and can finish physically inside.

Andrew Masiello-Ozdoba, North Warren Central: From one of the more remote areas in New York, bordering Vermont, Masiello-Ozdoba looks to finish his high school career strong this winter. With good size at 6’5”, the big forward made an impact with his impactful defense, playing with high energy and a pesky alterer of shots in the paint.

Ian Thompson, East Windsor (CT): Making the long trip from Connecticut, Thompson put himself on the radar of coaches in attendance from a different region. His ability to finish shots when getting downhill was notable, and he did so by showing off his touch with both hands.

Stay tuned as we get into the depth of guard talent we saw yesterday as this week continues.
