Today’s update is from 2016, when the ninth installment of the Elite 75 Frosh/Soph Showcase once again raised the bar for regional recruitment. Over the past few years, many alums from 2016’s showcase have continued their success at some of the highest levels. Here are just a handful of the biggest updates from recent years:

It comes with great sadness as we start off by remembering the incredibly unfortunate passing of Rivers School/Brewster Academy alum Terrence Clarke. He played a major role in leading Brewster Academy to a 2019 National Prep Championship, going on to earn the #1 overall spot in our New England Class of 2020 Rankings. At Kentucky, he averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. The NBA paid tribute to the late star during the 2021 Draft by ceremonially selecting Clarke.

Redemption Christian/MacDuffie School alum Dalano Banton recently signed a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics after spending the past two seasons with the Toronto Raptors. He averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists during his final year of college at Nebraska. Despite only averaging 9 minutes of playing time this past season, he still averaged 5 points and 2 rebounds for the Raptors.

Marianapolis Prep alum two-time NEPSAC Class-B Player of the Year Tyler Burton recently announced his commitment to Villanova from the transfer portal. This past season, he averaged 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in his fourth year at Richmond. He earned All-Atlantic 10 honors both of the past two seasons.

Arlington/Cushing/Putnam Science alum Bensley Joseph enters his junior season at Miami this upcoming year. Last year, he averaged 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, shooting 40% from three-point range.

Finally, we take a look at two of last year’s UMass stars in recent Rutgers transfer Old Rochester Regional/Tabor/Woodstock alum Noah Fernandes and Woodstock/Brewster alum Matt Cross. Fernandes averaged over 13 points and 4 assists this past season, shooting over 45% from three-point range in his third year at UMass after transferring from Wichita State. Cross averaged over 12 points and 6 rebounds this past season in only his first season at UMass, coming after one year at Louisville following his first college season at Miami.

This is once again only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to successful alums of the Elite 75 Frosh/Soph Showcases. Other players from 2016’s showcase who went on to play Division I (and some professional) include Maxwell Lorca-Lloyd, Charles Coleman, Bernard Kouma, Mike Rabinovich, Jaiden Delaire, Rivaldo Soares, Dyondre Dominguez, Jordan Mason, Cairo McCrory, Ismael Massoud, Daman Tate, Idan Tretout, Taelon Martin, and many more!
