10 Stockrisers from the 2023 Frosh/Soph #E75

With Frosh/Soph returning in just three weeks, a look back at some of the 2026 standouts from the event seemed fitting. Here are some guys to familiarize yourself with if you haven’t already as the month of September quickly approaches.

Incoming Cushing Academy point guard Ryan Moesch has been nothing short of phenomenal playing with Crown in the HGSL. He led the state of New York in scoring playing at Chittenango HS and has since taken off. Moesch is as twitchy as a guard can be, but can blow by defenders with his elite speed as well. He scores it from all around the floor and has great floor vision. This spring his recruitment grew immensely with a handful of mid-major offers coming his way.

Lawrence Academy’s Evan Mitchner Jr closed out the grassroots season with a bang for Expressions 16’s. The point guard put up a solid 9.8 points per game over the four games he played, but his 9-1 assist to turnover ratio is notable. Mitchner is an above average shot creator with great feel for the game, and can put the ball through the net.

Jayvon Robinson put himself on the map in a big way over the winter at Fitch High School in Groton Connecticut. Robinson contributed a number of 20+ point, 10+ assist double-doubles, finishing the season averaging over 20 points per game. Robinson brings impressive athleticism to the floor to complement his three-level scoring skills and ability to create for his teammates.

New Heights and Kingswood Oxford 2026 DJ Biggins entered the grassroots season fresh off an All-NEPSAC Class B nomination and kept building from there. The southpaw has the ball on a string, can stop and go with quickness and is a true scorer, thriving when getting downhill. Following the opening of the direct contact period for 2026’s Biggins received offers from Holy Cross and Bryant.

Central Catholic and Mass Rivals 2026 Javier Lopez has made a name for himself thus far and is gearing up for his junior season. The guard poured in a number of 25+ point games in his sophomore season at Central Catholic next to incoming postgrad big John Kelley. He’s got a blend of strength and speed, rises up into pull-up shots, can convert around the basket, and is a certain player of note in the MIAA this year.

2026 Adrian Shepard Jr recently announced he was taking his talents to Class A of the NEPSAC at Tabor Academy, and continues to see his stock blow up. Shepard stands at 6’4 thriving as an off-ball guard that can jump out the gym and finish with power above the rim. He’s got a strong body that he uses to impact the game defensively, rebounds in bunches and can create for himself off the dribble. A player to know heading into September.

Sean Wilson out of Trumbull High School in Connecticut has become a familiar name to us playing with DTX in the ZGXL this year. Wilson stands at 6’2 but has a very strong upper body, plus he’s very smooth with the ball. He’s got moves to keep defenders on their toes, knocks down pull up’s from mid and long range and crashes the offensive glass.

St George’s Dywane Chess has seen a major boost in his recruitment from grassroots play with the Middlesex Magic, and deservedly so. He’s a true “pitbull” as one might say, as he really can just force his way to the basket, but also brings toughness on both ends of the court. North Carolina A&T, Albany, Holy Cross and Hofstra have extended offers his way.

Josh Bergeron was a major piece to Lincoln High School’s D2 championship run in the RIIL this year and continued to succeed in grassroots play with BCRI. The 6’2” guard is a fluid shotmaker that gets his shots off in rhythm and can knock them down in bunches. He’s a marksman from downtown, but is especially effective on pull-ups in the mid-range.

Deerfield Academy guard Jonathan Ocasio was a standout in the grassroots season, playing up with the Rivals Elite 17U squad. Ocasio is a clutch shotmaker that gets to his spots to rise up and hit shots. On drives to the basket he does a good job of using his body to get to the rim and can finish through contact.
