ZG Finals - u15 Recap
While most of the eyes at the University Sports Center were focused on the u16 and u17 divisions, there was also a plethora of excitement in the u15 division, where the Boston Spartans cruised to a 63-42 title-clinching victory over the Boston Titans.
Catholic Memorial teammates Kellen Grady and Brandon Twitty led the offense with some hot three-point shooting. Grady also played strong defense from his wing position in the 1-2-2 three-quarter court trap. He had a few timely steals which he converted into easy transition buckets.
Point guard Ernie Chatman (Boston English) showed great court sense with numerous assists to teammates for uncontested layups. The dynamic ball handler with a flair for the spectacular – as reflected by his bright pink socks – was unquestionably the best player on the court.
A hard-fought, 52-47, victory by the Great Boston Lions over the East Coast Panthers (NY) earned GBL the Division II crown. Devante Cooper and Niles Cohen along with Fru-nwi Che, who also played well at the 2013 NERR Memorial Day Super 16 Showcase, turned in strong performances for GBL.
