Woodstock’s Opurum D1 Bound

Woodstock Academy and Riverside Hawks big man Promise Opurum announced his commitment to New Hampshire yesterday.

Opurum attended New Rochelle High School in New York before deciding on taking a post-grad year at
Woodstock.

He came into his post-grad season with momentum as he was selected to the New York All-State Team in 2021. Opurum showed he was ready for the uptick in competition at the prep level, being chosen All Power 5 Conference AAA Honorable Mention.

“Absolutely a great fit”, Woodstock Academy head coach Jacque Rivera said. “Coach Herrion is a throwback coach who actually develops his players and gets the most out of them. Don’t be surprised if he is an award winner after his time at UNH.”

“No doubt Promise’s best days are ahead of him, but the growth and development he displayed this year was second to none. His ability to score around and away from the basket improved, as well as his lateral quickness which allows him to defend ball screens exceptionally well.”

He becomes the third member of Woodstock’s 2022 class to finalize their recruitment and second member to commit to a division one school.
