Winchendon Star Signs Letter of Intent

Larry Anderson is off the board…and the final destination is a bit of a surprise.  The 6’5” forward who had received a good deal of interest from schools in the Atlantic 10 (and some even higher) throughout the year signed with Long Beach State.

His commitment is a huge acquisition for the 49ers as they steal the highest ranked player left in New England as well as someone who was considered by many to be a mid to high major recruit.

For Anderson, his commitment ensures that he will be able to return to his home state of California next year, after making the journey across the country to attend the Winchendon School for his post-graduate year.

His time at Winchendon certainly has to be considered a success as he was one of, if not the, biggest reasons behind the team’s tremendous season and run to the finals of the NEPSAC tournament.

He is a player with seemingly endless energy and enthusiasm as he can stay in attack mode for all 40 minutes of a game.  Not only does have a terrific ability to get to the rim on the offensive end, but he is also a very effective full court defender, and fantastic rebounder.

What makes him even more intriguing is that he showed more and more signs of an improved skill set as the season went on.  In fact by the end of the year he had developed a very dangerous mid-range game as well as become a more consistent threat from behind the three-point line.

If he can continue to polish his overall skills while simultaneously developing his understanding of the game, he has the potential to be a very special player in the Big West Conference.
