Winchendon Forward Ivy Bound

Almost four months after visiting Yale’s campus, Winchendon School post-graduate Nicholas Victor has made a verbal commitment to join the Bulldogs next year.

The six-foot-five forward came to Winchendon by way of Lucas, Texas and has been widely recruited by a variety of high academic division I schools.

“Nick is a true competitor, with an excellent work ethic,” said Winchendon head coach Matt Quinn.  “He leads by example on and off the court.”

Victor is well known for his high skill level and ability to make shots from behind the three-point line but has proven his versatility since arriving at Winchendon, including his ability to pass the ball and rebound on both ends of the floor.  At last weekend’s National Prep School Invitational, he pulled down 13 boards in one game.

“I have really enjoyed coaching him because even if he is not scoring, he constantly finds way to help the team,” Quinn said.  “Yale is a great decision for him, and I am sure he will find a lot of success there.”

Victor is the third player to commit to Yale head coach James Jones so far this year, joining Plainfield (NJ) High School’s six-foot-seven big man Justin Sears, who committed in October, and Brentwood (TN) High School’s five-foot-eleven point guard Jack Montague, who committed last July.

Victor also becomes the third member of this year’s Winchendon team to commit to a division I school, joining Akosa Maduegbunam (Penn State) and Tevin Falzon (Sacred Heart).
