Wheeler’s Wright off the Board

Wheeler School (RI) combination guard Aidan Wright made a verbal commitment to Kenyon College last week, pending acceptance of his early decision application.

Kenyon is a small college in Ohio ranked among the top 30 liberal arts schools in the country according to U.S. News and and World Report.

“I chose Kenyon because I felt it was the right fit both academically and athletically,” Wright said. “They play in a power conference (NCAC) with state of the art facilities and the school offers an excellent liberal arts education.”

In Wright, Kenyon is landing a Rhode Island native who has spent the last three seasons helping Wheeler become an annual contender in the SENE and NEPSAC Class C leagues, respectively. As a three year starter for head coach Sean Kelly, Wright has helped the Warriors qualify for three consecutive NEPSAC tournaments, as well as a 2013 SENE Tournament championship (the school's first since 1990).

"Kenyon is getting a motivated athlete with a dynamic personality,” Kelly said. “It's been a pleasure watching him grow into a mature young man with great leadership potential."

Wright, who spent last spring playing with the Middlesex Magic, has established himself as an athletic guard with the ability to score inside and out. Currently, the Wheeler guard is 52 points away from the 1,000 point mark.
