UMass Nabs Point Guard
With Maxie Esho having signed his National Letter of Intent in November, the University of Massachusetts went back to the Washington D.C. area to nab their second commitment for next fall in point guard Daryl Traynham.
Traynham has teamed with Esho on the AAU circuit for the last few years, running with the D.C. Assault program.
A quick and attacking point guard, Traynham projects to be a good fit in UMass’ dribble drive motion offense with his ability to get into the lane and make plays off the bounce. His quickness also allows him to be disruptive defensively.
“I like the way they play, they get up and down the floor and play nasty defense,” Traynham told ESPN.com. “What made a difference was Coach [Derek] Kellogg. I knew of him at Memphis, but I know him at UMass. He trusts me.”
