Remy Cofield has been a hot name in the state of Massachusetts for the past several years. Now, the powerful guard who has starred for both the Roxbury Latin School and the Metro Boston AAU Basketball Club is on his way to the University of Pennsylvania to join first year Head Coach Glen Miller. Miller and his staff obviously took advantage of their strong New England ties to lock down one of the region’s most well known prospects. Cofield will be joining a Pennsylvania team that was the preseason favorite to win the Ivy League according to many media outlets and also has the highest ranked recruiting class in the conference according to Hoop Scoop Online.

Also headed to the Ivy League is 6’6 forward Asenso Ampin from the Groton School who will attend Columbia University. Ampin has been out for the initial part of the season due to an injury and Groton has struggled mightily in his absence, showing just how much impact he has on their team. Ampin made a name for himself this summer at the Eastern Invitational Basketball Clinic by putting on a dunking show throughout the four day camp catching the attention of college coaches throughout the country and earning comparisons to Ben Wallace by many of the other players in attendance.

Cofield and Ampin are both uniquely skilled individuals who had a variety of scholarship opportunities. To their credit both chose to attend Ivy League schools that are not allowed to hand out athletic scholarships despite the fact that they compete at the division I level. Both players are expected to make immediate contributions and have very productive careers.
