STM’s Melis Earns Scholarship
St. Thomas More post-graduate Chris Melis committed to Stonehill over the weekend, becoming the 5th member of STM's 2021 class to finalize his recruitment.
Melis is a 6-foot-5 wing who should be capable of playing multiple positions in the Northeast 10 Conference.
He graduated from Horace Greeley High School in New York, where he missed most of his senior season with a shoulder injury but was able to return in time for the post-season. He made a dramatic game-winning buzzer-beater to lead Greeley over Newburgh Free Academy and onto, what would have been, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association final.
Greeley and Newburgh needed to bring their own intensity at the opening tip. They sure didn’t need it at the final buzzer.

Between his injury, the pandemic's arrival and the consequently limited summer, Melis arrived at St. Thomas More a virtual unknown to most, but asserted himself as one of the team's top prospects right away this fall.
He has good size on the wing, a strong body, tough approach to the game, solid shooting stroke, and multi-dimensional scoring tools. He is the second member of the Chancellors' 2021 class to commit to Stonehill and should be capable of making an immediate impact.
